“Daily Flag 5” by Christine & Uwe at 6 Violet Ave. 24” x 36” Free-form plasma-cut stainless steel plate. SOLD $400 Inspired by the five Olympic rings which represent the five inhabited continents of the world, this unique Daily Flag speaks to us of how hunger is a global issue, while the very local image of The Beach, the Leuty Lifeguard Station and the boardwalk, drives home the message that hunger affects our local communities right here in Toronto, the largest city in one of the wealthiest countries in the world. The theme of the five rings is repeated in the expertly hand-cut images: five boardwalk planks, five row boats and five groups of five rocks on the beach itself. The red, five-pointed star stands in stark contrast against the stainless steel medium, and, like a beacon, signifies the urgency of need.
