17 Flag 2015

Daily Flag 17 on Thursday, December 17 at 71 Leuty by Krystyna & Sekhar. 30″x30″ Reclaimed maple. “Now you see it.” The city scape of Toronto is dremmelled into a piece of lightly stained refurbished wood. While many options were considered in the fabrication of this flag, the flagmakers decided that the best way to reflect “hunger” in their flag was to make the design such that it can only be seen at close range. As is often the case with families who can’t afford enough food, hunger is often kept silent and not seen until one is directly in contact with those suffering. Similarly, the city scape of Toronto, while well represented in their flag at close proximity, might be perceived simply as a piece of wood at a distance.
